Learn How to Hit the Perfect Golf Tee Shot

!9#: Learn How to Hit the Perfect Golf Tee Shot

It is a well-known fact that the height of ball after the tee largely depends on the type of clubface used and, consequently, on the position of the so-called sweet spot. It is the part of the clubface where the ball makes optimum contact on the swing - higher up the face for golf drivers and lower down for a 7-iron. Learning the difference between the two can mean the difference between winning and losing the tournament.

To make your job easier while teeing, look at the sets of colors-coded markers positioned at varying distances from the green. For average players, the yellow tees are the points of reference while the red tees, which are placed nearest to the green, are typically reserved for female golfers.

When using the long iron to tee off, your best course of action is to tee the golf ball up just slightly so as to provide the best possible lie. For the short iron, tee up the ball to a minimal level so that clean contact and slight backspin is achieved. Indeed, saying that teeing off with a long and short iron is very different is an understatement.

Now, for a fairway wood used to tee off, you should tee up the golf ball in such a manner that approximately half of the ball is still visible over the club head's top. This way, you have better chances for success of finding and then hitting the sweet spot.

For a driver, the mechanics are the same except for the visibility of the ball in relation to the club. You should ensure that at least half of the ball is visible above the clubface, which is in contrast with the fairway wood's positioning of over the club head's top. You will then be able to provide an upward path for the ball.

On the first tee, it is normal to feel extreme anxiety especially when it is the start to a big match, when many things are at stake, or simply when many people are watching your every move. Indeed, even the best players in the professional circuit will experience butterflies in the stomach and yet still triumphed.

You can get in on their secret to conquering first tee anxiety, fears and tension. You have to stay focused on the goal, think positive thoughts, take a deep breath and then just do it. It also helps to remember that golf is a psych war, too, so much so that succumbing to your fears can bolster the chances of your opponents at winning the jacket, whatever color it may be.

You should also focus on the body mechanics in relation to the club being used to tee off. For one thing, use your most reliable club while taking the practice swings and then beginning on the pre-shot routine. For another thing, hit the ball just as you envisioned it in your mind.

It will take practice but once you get the hang - or the swing of it, for that matter - teeing up and teeing off can be easy. Soon, it will be as natural as the air you breathe.
